Marjorie was born in Tkaranto/Toronto to Hong Kong immigrants. As a theatre and opera artist, she works variously as playwright, librettist, director and dramaturge as well as in the intersection of these forms. She most recently directed BLIND DATES by Vivian Chong (Theatre Passe Muraille). Her own writing has been performed in the United States, Scotland, Hong Kong, Russia and across Canada. Marjorie has been recognized with multiple awards for her writing, directing, performance and mentorship, including Governor General Award nominations for CHINA DOLL and LADY SUNRISE. Her play co-created with composer Njo Kong Kie, THE YEAR OF THE CELLO will have its Cantonese language debut in fall 2026 in Macau, China.  Marjorie is also the Artistic Director of Theatre Passe Muraille in Toronto where she places access, community, collaboration and innovation at the forefront.
