Christine Malec is a member of Toronto’s Blind community who works to help arts and science organizations make their content more accessible to people who are Blind or Low Vision. She offers music and education groups for blind adults through the CNIB Foundation, and is co-host of the Talk Description to Me, LuminoCity, and Described Toronto Collective podcasts. She works with Audio Describers as a consultant for live productions and science-based image descriptions. She’s passionate about sharing music in public spaces, and can sometimes be heard singing her heart out in the Toronto Subway System.

Description user and creator Christine Malec, and description writer and narrator JJ Hunt will discuss the creative side of description, drawing on their experiences such as description-rich podcasting, drafting Science Integrated Descriptions for NASA, and tapping into their inner storytellers to describe dance. They will share practical insights on finding creative uses for AI, identifying opportunities to innovate, and developing the descriptive talents of a diverse team, so that you can create descriptive offerings that are relevant and engaging to the Blind and Low Vision community.
